About the Bahá’í Faith

“Ye are the fruits of one tree, and the leaves of one branch. Deal ye one with another with the utmost love and harmony, with friendliness and fellowship. ... So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth.”
— Bahá’u’lláh

The Bahá’í Faith began in the mid-19th century in Persia, founded by Bahá’u’lláh—a title meaning “The Glory of God.” His teachings center on the spiritual unity of all humankind and the belief that lasting peace and justice can only be achieved when prejudice is overcome and unity is embraced.

Bahá’u’lláh taught that all the world’s major religions come from the same divine Source and represent different stages in the spiritual education of humanity. This concept of the oneness of religion is a cornerstone of the Bahá’í perspective.

Among the key principles of the Bahá’í Faith are:

  • The oneness of the human family

  • The equality of women and men

  • The harmony between science and religion

  • The importance of universal education

  • The elimination of all forms of prejudice

Bahá’ís believe that the most urgent need of our time is to foster unity—within families, neighborhoods, nations, and globally. In collaboration with friends of all faiths and backgrounds, Bahá’ís are working in communities around the world to promote this vision of oneness through service and meaningful conversation.

“The well-being of mankind, its peace and security, are unattainable unless and until its unity is firmly established.”

— Bahá’u’lláh
